Medical

DOCs providers are experts at diagnosing and removing skin cancer and offer skin cancer surgery procedures and other treatment options.

Acne

  • Acne is an impedance and inflammatory reaction of the pores that results in variable lesions (comedones, papulopustules and/or cysts) of the face and trunk.
  • Common in adolescence, it can lead to permanent scarring or discoloration.
  • Contributing factors can be stress, nutrition, sweating and hormones.

At DOCs, we analyze your type of acne, provide customized written instructions and augment with cleansing tools, light therapy and medical esthetic treatments like peels and facials.

Rosacea

  • Rosacea, which affects more than 16 million Americans, is an adult inflammatory and vascular condition that ranges in severity and can affect the eyelids.
  • Symptoms include facial flushing, pustules and eventual formation of fine blood vessels (telangiectasia) and oil-gland overgrowth (sebaceous hyperplasia).

At DOCs, we educate you on the triggers that can aggravate rosacea, such as alcohol, caffeine, chemicals, spicy foods, stress and sun and provide the best options for gentle cleansers, redness-reducing creams, laser treatments and sunscreen.

Eczema

  • Eczema is an immunologic, inflammatory disease with multiple causes such as atopy, allergy or contact irritants. It often results in itchy, dry skin.
  • There are variants that develop as a child, are site specific, patterned or medication associated.

Understanding the genetic tendency, environmental triggers or infectious irritants is our goal. We create a customized care sheet with directions and a multi-pronged care plan to provide you with barrier protectants, anti-inflammatories and anti-bacterials.

Psoriasis

  • Psoriasis is an immunologic disease that affects skin and joints.
  • It manifests as pink plaques and bumps with a silver-white scale.
  • Lesions commonly itch and can be localized or widespread.
  • Psoriasis can be aggravated by poor nutrition, alcohol, smoking, stress and infections.
  • It can have indirect impact on cardiac function and emotional states.

At DOCs, we work with you to determine the severity of the disease and choose the best topical or systemic treatment to address its symptoms and provide relief.

Autoimmune

Disruption of your immune system can happen with conditions like thyroid disease, lupus, collagen disorders or blood vessel inflammation. A biopsy and blood work may be necessary to diagnose these conditions. DOCs works with you and creates a healthcare environment that is supportive and constructive.

Rashes, Insect Bites and Skin Allergies

Skin is an organ with an immune system, and sensitivity often can arise due to drugs, irritants, insects, food or hypersensitivity. In many instances, over-the-counter medications are not enough to address symptoms and effects. At DOCs, our dermatology experts can help restore your skin to health.

Warts

Warts are viral skin lesions resulting from the human papilloma virus (HPV). Though warts are usually asymptomatic, they sometimes can be painful or pruritic. In those cases, DOCs can work with the patient to develop the right treatment for removal.

Molluscum

Molluscum manifests as viral skin lesions. Resulting from a poxvirus, it is common in children. The virus causes small white, pink, or flesh-colored raised bumps or growths with a dimple or pit in the center and may appear anywhere on the body. They are usually painless, although they may be itchy, red, swollen and/or sore. At DOCS, we work with sufferers to treat the virus, if necessary, and educate them on preventing its spread or reoccurrence.

Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a disease in which the pigment cells of the skin, melanocytes, are destroyed in certain areas. Vitiligo results in depigmented, or white, patches of skin in any location on the body. Most people who have vitiligo will develop the condition prior to age 40; about half develop it before age 20. There are numerous therapies available to treat this disease, and our experts at DOCs can consult with you to find the one best suited to your needs.

Moles & Birthmarks

Moles are common skin lesions. They are correctly called melanocytic nevi, as they are due to a proliferation of the pigment cells, melanocytes. Some moles, also known as birthmarks, are present at birth, but most appear as the skin is exposed to sunlight. Common types of moles:

  • Dysplastic nevi are benign growths on the skin that have certain clinical and pathological features that appear unusual.
  • Vascular nevi are derived from structures of the blood vessels instead of pigment cells.

At DOCs, we survey your skin to determine the best course of action for unwanted marks, whether it’s medication, laser therapy, surgery of cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions or cosmetic alternatives to treat the symptoms and approve appearance.

Skin Cancer Screenings

Skin cancer screenings are visual inspections of your skin by a dermatologist or other medical professional. There are many different types of skin cancer, including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common forms of skin cancer, but melanoma is the most deadly. With early detection and proper treatment, the cure rate for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma is about 95 percent. When melanoma is detected before it spreads, it also has a high cure rate. Regular self-skin exams and a yearly examination by a dermatologist help people find early skin cancers.
